I know this isn't a football story....
So I was comming out of the Marriott Center ticket office at 5:10 PM and the ticket booth was closed (they close at 5:00 sharp, I didn't get extra tickets to the EW game...)and Chris Miles walked out and greeted me by my car. Man that kid's tall, 6'11. He struck up a conversation out of the blue and told me a little about himself. I asked him if he would start this year and he kind of shrugged his shoulders and said before his mish to Portland OR he started a few games but wasn't clear where he stood with this team. I ask him about Portland and where he served and how he liked it. I told him my folks live in Astoria and he mentioned he served in Seaside for 6 months and enjoyed his time there. It was nice to put a face to the name I've heard about and get a one on one with him. I thought it was interesting when he said He thought "this team would win the conference but, it's hard to win both the conference and the tournament the same year."
I hope they do both.
I asked him if he was going to the Eastern Wash game tomorrow, he said "What time does it start? I told him and he said he would "be at practice for 3 hours but would try to make it if the game went long."
He's a nice and personable guy, I hope he does well in his sophomore year.
