I know we will have played UCLA 3 times in a year, but I don't want to let them out of their contract, unless we can fill it with a similar caliber team (ie middle of a BCS conference or Boise or Hawaii). It is the biggest game on the home schedule next year. Utah, AF, ASU, and TCU are all away games. Even for all you in-state rivalry people out there, USU is on the road.

If we don't keep UCLA or have a similar draw next year, the home games are going to be D-1AA opponent, another bad team, New Mexico, Wyoming, SDSU, and UNLV. That's a great sell to the home fans. I hope that Holmoe looks at this and says no way are we dropping them, unless they get a similar team.

I don't understand the mentality of "who is on the schedule". When your team sucks, yeah, it might draw more people to the "big names". But I'd go to the game no matter who they play. I know that they don't complain about playing patsies in the south in their non conference schedule. And I know those games are sold out all the time. People don't get behind the team here like they do in the south. I don't know why that is, but it isn't the same mentality. I am hearing so much animosity towards Bronco for wanting to schedule down, and playing what to me is better odds. Who were the big names that the Yewts, Boise State, and Hawaii beat in the years they went to the BCS games? And they the BCS schools they beat, how good were they?

You have the opportunity to build on the next 2 years after this year. Ride the tide. Get a huge winning streak together like Boise State, Hawaii, and the Yewts did, and look what you get. National love and a BCS game.

I'll tell you why BYU fans don't show up and support the team like they should. It's because a lot of them are hollywood fans. They want a bunch of flash and controversy and publicity. Unless they get that they don't even know who BYU is playing. BUT if it does happen they show up. Same with when BYU isn't playing well and suddenly the team isn't the big glamorous thing in town, so people quit going to games. We're in a society that wants to be spoon fed entertainment. People don't know how to go to a football game and just enjoy being there anymore.

I'm not sure how anyone can say BYU fans don't support the team. I've been going since 1980 and even during the bad years we filled most of the stadium. That being said, I may go to all the games but I still want to see us play good teams. Sorry, but Eastern Washington just doesn't cut it.

The games would probably be a sell out, but I would think that the athletic department would want to reward the fans with some entertaining football. I wouldn't mind having the OOC home schedule with a couple of weak home games in the years that we have Utah and TCU at home. At that point, at least the big in conference games are there for the home fans.

I agree with this. I think that this is a good compromise.

I remember a Yewtah's BC$ year being very entertaining. We were a mediocre team at best and we still were selling more tickets than they were (I know we have more seats to fill, but they weren't even selling out their stadium). I think BYU has more die-hard fans than most teams.
