This decision was all about playing time. There is a solid core of returning players in the stable at RB for the next 4 years, assuming JJ doesn't leave early. Shak wouldn't have been the guy at BYU.
It will be interesting to see if the U keeps him at RB. I heard that BYU was the only school that offered him that guaranteed he would play RB.
The thing that gets me with this is the response from the toots this will undoubtedly bring. I have to believe that we would have had him if we really wanted him. I have to believe that Bronco would not have let him go if he felt he was a necessary part of the future. One thing he doesn't do is speak without analyzing his words first, so he wouldn't have said we wouldn't lose another recruit if he didn't mean it. I don't think he feels he's lost any recruit that he really wanted.
