You could come up with a lot of reasons why LES was sold out the entire season this year.

One thing that surprises me the most is the attendance numbers of 2002 and how those compare with this 2007 season. Maybe the big difference here is, while our records were similar, we won our bowl game to end 2006, thereby generating a ton of optimism.

The other thing I wonder is about the TV coverage. For those local to the area, they may be opting to just buy a ticket and go to the games rather than submit to the hijacking that is Comcast/CSTV.

The reason I really think that attendance has been and will continue to be sell outs is Bronco. Nobody has had the huevos to step up as the BYU football coach and stick a badge on his chest that says Spirit - Honor - Tradition, and then completely own it. If you have attended his firesides, Spirit doesn't mean get out your pom-poms.

Who was the last BYU Football coach to tell a story from the Book of Mormon and apply it to his football program in a press conference. He's making the team own the flagship role.

In my opinion, The combination of all of his efforts is setting him apart and making people feel differently about BYU football than the ever have before.

On a side note, the amazing part about Comcast/CSTV's strategy on this whole thing is the pending backlash waiting comcast coming at the end of the contract. There is little doubt the MWC will not re up with them and what customer in their right mind will bother sticking with Comcast after the way they handled distribution ?

I think the number of sold out games is directly related to 2 things: The previous years success (particularly the bowl game) and the teams they play at home.

1: we finished last year ranked #15 in the country, on an 10 game winning streak, and a great bowl win. That gets fan anxious for next year.

2: We played Arizona, Air Force, TCU, and Utah all at home. Everyone will want to watch those games in person. Lots of season tickets were sold because of that schedule.

Next year, we have UCLA at home, and whoever else the Non-Conference team we can find. I say Weber State. I think they are in the same conference as E. Washington, and if it helps us go undefeated, let's play them! We also have New Mexico at home, which they are a surprisingly good team. Back to back bowl season for them.

I will have season tickets next year! Go Cougars!

Its ONLY because of:
1-winning

That's it, now getting deeper, the coaching, players dedication and talent.

it has absolutely nothing to do with the Mtn....if it were because of anything or anyone like CT (a soon to be fired guy) or the mtn., we'd be playing mediocre every year like the yewts or some bottom feeder

This is also helped by the fact that games are almost always on Saturday around noon or 1 pm. Consistency and predictability make it easier for people to jump onto the bandwagon.

Better attendance is one of the few things the mtn. network can actually claim some credit for.

WOW! Love the pic. I'm all for expansion, could you imagine a stadium 3 times bigger than everybody else in the conference!
Triffic on north bound I-15 would suck though!
I must agree with TimO. Everybody loves a winner!
