You could come up with a lot of reasons why LES was sold out the entire season this year.
One thing that surprises me the most is the attendance numbers of 2002 and how those compare with this 2007 season. Maybe the big difference here is, while our records were similar, we won our bowl game to end 2006, thereby generating a ton of optimism.
The other thing I wonder is about the TV coverage. For those local to the area, they may be opting to just buy a ticket and go to the games rather than submit to the hijacking that is Comcast/CSTV.
The reason I really think that attendance has been and will continue to be sell outs is Bronco. Nobody has had the huevos to step up as the BYU football coach and stick a badge on his chest that says Spirit - Honor - Tradition, and then completely own it. If you have attended his firesides, Spirit doesn't mean get out your pom-poms.
Who was the last BYU Football coach to tell a story from the Book of Mormon and apply it to his football program in a press conference. He's making the team own the flagship role.
In my opinion, The combination of all of his efforts is setting him apart and making people feel differently about BYU football than the ever have before.
On a side note, the amazing part about Comcast/CSTV's strategy on this whole thing is the pending backlash waiting comcast coming at the end of the contract. There is little doubt the MWC will not re up with them and what customer in their right mind will bother sticking with Comcast after the way they handled distribution ?
