What you saw last night was the result of parlaying the 117th rated schedule into an undefeated season only to get your a$$ handed to you by a team that actually played someone this season. Hawaii was the weakest non bcs team to get a BCS bowl invite and they played the strongest competition of the 3 in their bowl game. You were a bad representative of Non BCS teams and cost the non BCS teams every bit of respect that was earned by the previous 2 non BCS teams who won their games. Don't be surprised the next time a non BCS team has an undefeated season to hear all of the BcS losers talk about strength of schedule and "remember what Hawaii did against Georgia". You guys were good enough to win 12 in a row against the crappy Wac but you would have taken 4th or 5th place against the MWC this year behind BYU, Airforce, utah, and TCU (maybe even Wyoming).

Good point, kitic. I would add that if BYU had not been missing Aaron Francisco for, IIRC, the entire game, then Hawaii's air game would have been scaled back by two or three TD's. Doman was not healthy, and BYU was missing its offensive MVP and best DB (Francisco was a stud, even as a freshman).

Agreed...Hawaii doesn't play well enough on the mainland to win a MWC championship. They'd have to have BYU, Utah, TCU, and New Mexico at home to have a prayer. And can you imagine Hawaii playing in Fort Collins or Laramie in November? They were scarcely better than LA Tech, San Jose State and Nevada away from Honalulu this year. We simply don't have creampuffs like Idaho, Utah State, or New Mexico State to beat up on in this league.

5- I know how Georgia feels when you give a good "MOUNTAIN STOMPING", like BYU/Hawaii in 2002! BYU:35, Hawaii:32. So, the last time BYU and Hawaii played, who won?

GO Cougars!

There is a lesson to learn from Hawaii's butt-kicking last night. You have to play at least one solid team, preferably two away from home before your bowl game if you want to be mentally and otherwise prepared. But on the other hand, the WAC and Benson are walking away with a fat paycheck. Why would they change their scheduling strategy when it worked this year!! They got a team that doesn't belong in the top 20 into the Sugar Bowl and walked away with 15 million! When it comes to economics and money that is a pretty sound strategy to me!!

(To be honest, I think Hawaii is a top 15 team at home, and probably 20-35 anywhere else. What that balances out to.... I don't know. They will likely end up ranked just ahead of BYU.)

I think Hawaii may have had a better showing lat night had you guys had a better schedule. Had you gone and played a bigger team on a bigger stage on the road I think it would have been huge in terms of experience.

Hawaii looked like a deer in the headlights last night, they just didn't look mentally ready (especially colt brenen)

If Hawaii had gone out and played Texas at home (Iowa, UCLA, ASU, or any other number of teams) I think they would have been better prepared for last night. Maybe the jet lag got to them.

Oh and as to your previous comment, I have crowton years amnesia, so you can bring that up all you want to, but I've forgotten it :-). Hawaii will never beat BYU in the Bronco Mendenhall era.

I totally agree, Brennan
