scheduling 7 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 3
I know that there has already been a ton of conversation about our scheduling, but I got a what if. I just saw that LSU is still looking for a non conference game. I know that the odds of them picking us up would be slim to non even if we were still looking...especially in Provo. I am just wondering what you guys would think if we scheduled them? If we could get the defending champion to open up in Provo, I think that most if not all of us would be thrilled. I was about 5 years old when Miami came in at number 1 and walked away in a daze wondering what had happened. I know LSU probably will not start the season at number one anyway. What would you think about dropping a home game and playing at Tiger stadium? I think that it could be huge for the cougs, and I would gladly support it. In fact I vote we drop the Aggies and head to Baton Rouge. A win there would secure a BSC spot if we won out or even if we dropped one or two the rest of the way. I think even if we showed well and won out we would still make the BCS. Thoughts?

I would love to play LSU in Provo. Memories of '90 all over again. But like you said, no way it would happen. As for playing them there, it would be a great game for us and our players. If we were to lose, our margin for error the rest of the season would be greatly magnified. I don't think we'd get a BCS bid with any other losses, unless the season as a whole is similar to this year.
Compare that to our schedule now, and it probably isn't too far off.

Well imagine if this year our losses had been a last minute loss on the road to LSU and either UCLA or Tulsa...I think that we would have had a shot even with two losses at taking Hawaii's place. If we loose to one patsy on an off day there is no way we get the big game...if we show well on the road to the defending champs we have a little bit bigger margin of error. (not to mention people could actually see the game, win, lose, or draw)

I am not certain but I thought Holmoe said he tried to get big BCS teams and named LSU as one of them to come and play BYU at BYU and they said no.
