I have to agree with Greg here.
The early 80s were Incredible, but we're starting into a period that could very well go down as the best football/basketball period in Cougar history....not to mention the overall success of the entire athletic program: EVERY sinlge Cougar team finishing 1 or 2 in the MWC (or MPSF for volleyball) in the same year last year!!!

Absolutely. We are living the dream right now Cougar fans and there is no reason to believe (unless you are Airwolf) that it can't continue and even get better.

Wrubbell has a nice blog.

Here's another interesting comment he makes:

There have been some great days in Cougar sports in past decades, but the first decade of this new millenium will be among the brightest ever. Unfortunately, the advent of the BCS (which is both a football AND basketball term now)and the MWC's accompanying media distribution difficulties have placed BYU in a position in which many of its accomplishments may go unnoticed or ultimately unrewarded. That notwithstanding, BYU is on its way to being the "best of the rest," and one can only hope that some day soon, a situation will present itself that gives the program a chance to truly shine on the national stage it deserves.

Oh, and kudos, chagrins to KSL for when I clicked on the website, they have a Macy ad for panties with a beautiful woman modeling them.

all i got was an rsl add, curse you ksl....

i realise it is a second tier sport, and i am a homer, but the byu rugby team has played in the natinal championship game for the past two years, and is currently ranked second in the nation. they have had a number of all-americans and national team players. the only time we are considered student athletes is when the athlitic department wants donations (i have a letter to prove it, it starts "dear former student athlete&quot. sad. at least to me.

BYU's club Men's Lacrosse team won the National Championship last year.

Maybe if these champion club sports could get upgraded to NCAA then we would have a better chance of joining a BCS conference.
