By the way, head coaches from West Virginia and Kansas State have recently attended practices to see how Bronco runs the program in the off season. He has got something very special happening here. I do not hesitate to say that we have the best-conditioned team in the country during the off season. We may not have the best players, but we have very good players, and pound for pound, Bronco Mendenhall gets the most out of them.

I've written this article three times and accidentally erased it. Argh.

Shorter version: It's a big deal that these other schools are checking out Bronco's program for the offseason, but I think they won't be able to see the thing that makes the biggest difference. I think the player buy-in, unity and sense of willingness to follow the program are what is at the heart of the results that have these teams coming here to observe.

Bronco may not have the best rated recruits, but he has the recruits that will work best with him. I say that counts for more, and what's going on right now in training is the first evidence you'll see this year. To those that say Bronco is not a good recruiter, I say consider your standard of measurment. How worthwhile is a recruit who won't give the kind of effort that the team is currently showing right now?

I'm certain we'll see plenty more pieces of evidence as the year rolls on.

I was also validated in my belief that BYU footbal is an elite program by reading that two BCS schools (is K state in the Big 12?) were comming to BYU to see how it is done.

Dang, that cruser article really got me excited for the 2008 football season!

Random note about K-State --

Their head coach recruited and signed something like 18 JUCO (2-year) players for next season... desperate for quick wins much? That's just about the WORST way to run a I-A football program!

I totally agree 100%. Bronco has recruits that will fit in with the program the best. It doesn't matter that there are others that may be "better" but these boys know what it takes and will fit into the system.

Go Cougs

Bronco Top 5 coaches in Football 4 Months ago Karma: 28
just to back up Yzzazz, sporting news has us listed as 16-which may rise soon, cause it's a bit older preseason top 25, but here's what they had to say:

16. BYU: Bronco Mendenhall is one of the top five coaches in the game.
