For those who have Direct TV... 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 4
Couple of questions for those of you who have direct tv. Do you know what package you have to subscribe to in order to get the mtn.? Also, for those of you who have made the switch from DISH, do you know of any deals that are out there (e.g., free DDR, discount on monthly service, etc.). Anyway, let me know when you get a minute. Thanks!!!

There is a thread on the second page of the Football Forum titled "Just Got DirecTV". It has it all...

It's also important to note that although DirecTV is getting the MTN, they haven't yet announced which channel package it will be on. However, there have been rumors that it will be on the basic (total choice) package in the MTN west footprint.

I see that Versus is not on the basic package. When does the TV schedule get released for the fall? Also, what is the deal with CSTV? I heard that CBS bought them...what are the implications of that?

The one thing you have to remember when dealing with satelite companies is that "no" is not absolute. Pratically everything is negotiable and you push them and the'll give you more. Plus, if you can't get far with one sales associate, call back again.

Just before the regular season SDSU game that BYU lost, I thought to add CSTV as I didn't feel like driving somewhere at 9 pm to watch the game. I was told that I had an old DirecTV package that they no longer offered and to upgrade to the sports package I'd first have to be in the current package similar to what I had. It was $2 more a month. I wanted CSTV, so I said, fine. The problem was that under this new package, I quickly found three channels that I had under the old program for $2 less a month that I no longer got. I didn't go down through the whole list to see what others ones I no longer received, but I called DirecTV and complained asking them how could they expect me to pay $2 more a month and take away programs I had before. Without batting an eye, the guy said they'd switch me back to my old program and suddenly, for some magical reason, I was able to have my old package and the sports package too. Wasn't that just a miracle? TIC

One guy in our ward, when DirecTV didn't have the mtn complained so much that they gave him the Sports Package for free for a year.

A couple years ago I just picked up the phone because I felt in the mood and told DirecTV that I was switching to Dish because they had a package that I saw in the paper that gave me three free months of all the premium channels. She said, no problem and I got three free months of DirecTV premium channels.

The whole point is that it's like buying a car or a home. Only a foolish man pays sticker price. It's all negotiable.
