I was checking out the Washington board. 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 12
It seems they have a little info on BYU. They seem to think that BYU and the MWC don't care for defenses. I hope they are that clueless since BYU has fielded a good defsne for the past 2 years. I think they are all stuck on old WAC years when BYU just out scored other teams and played no defense. They are scared of our offense like they should be but think our defense is nothing to be concerned about. they use Tulsa as an example. I love how everyone likes to use ONE game vs a team that we had no film on and finished with the #1 offense in the country as a reason why our defense is no good meanwhile they ignore how BYU played very good defesne vs UCLa and AZ unlike Washington.

WELlll........... WE actually don't know too much about our defense. But certainly more than they should.

No matter who ends up starting and who ends up being the back-ups, you can be confident in one thing... We will have another top 25 defense. Our coaches are too good and prepare the boys so well.

In the next year or two I think alot of other programs will try to decimate our coaching staff. We've already seen it happen with Grimes and attempts with Hill.

Isn't Washington the team whose coach ranked BYU outside the top 25 after the last bowl season? Sounds like payback time.

Without giving them too much props, there are several other teams in the conference that have decent to good defenses in the last several years:

TCU
Utah
New Mexico

The MWC, unfortunately, has more parity, top to bottom, than most other conferences. This is because the defenses, for the most part, are ahead of the offenses, and keep the games in check. This allows for "anybody can win on any given Saturday".

I would LOVE to see an Oregon-esque-type beatdown on UW's own field... While that may be a tall order, I don't see that as unobtainable:

1) Get an early lead in the game.
2) Get Washington out of their comfort zone: i.e. force Locker to throw more than he wants vs allowing him to run the ball.
3) Pin your ears back on defense and let the snowball roll...

what we should hope for is a little extra motivation. UW is planning on unveiling a 1984 national championship banner next year. Let's up they chose the BYU game to do it!
