Harmon has the goods.

Could this lead to other Timpview players committing?

X has only recently been getting noticed too. I think it would have only been a matter of time before Tui would have started to get alot of attention. He might not be quite as dominant as X but he'll definately be good. His decision to commit early certainly should affect Su'a Filo's decision too since they are pretty good friends. Landing both of those two would be amazing. If we somehow also pulled of the coup of getting the three best high school OL in Utah this year with Martinez included, I would gaurantee you a national championship before they all graduated. Maybe two.

How does Timpview get so many great kids going to school there? Go Cougs. We need to take their coach out to dinner.

First, they have an outstanding coaching staff, one that would probably rival many college staffs in experience and expertise. They start with HC and DC Louis Wong, an outstanding OG on BYU's national championship team with NFL experience. Their OC is former head coach Chad Van Orden who is a meticulous planner and built the program over a 14 year period. Many of their assistant coaches are former college players with BYU ties as well. The coaches also have a strong Hawaiian and polynesian cultural background. Talented kids are well developed there.

Overall, it's a very attractive situation, with Timpview HS having a very strong academic and cultural arts tradition, being located in one of the highest concentrations of LDS families, and a growing community of polynesian families as a support group for LDS and non-LDS polynesian families. The enhanced opportunities attract families who want success for their children.

SI wrote an article about Timpview last year it was pretty good. It detailed why they have so much success and why they can attract so many Polynesian kids to play there (it might have something to do with the biannual trip to Hawaii). Anyway, check it out:

It would be great if BYU could put together another top class, especially if many of them come from our own back yard.
