I'll play the antogonist and say that it isn't necessarily a bad thing for BYU for the reason that long breaks between games early on can disrupt the learning process. Bye weeks are more beneficial later in the year once the team has gelled and needs to lick some wounds. But having a long break early on, with a new coaching staff and alot of new players, doesn't necessarily benefit the Bruins. If BYU comes out executing the first two weeks, they go into the game, a home game, with some confidence and momentum whereas UCLA would still be trying to prove to themselves they are capable and ready. Just a thought.

My thoughts exactly!!! Karma to you! I remember TCU in 06'. We had 3 days to prepare and TCU had 14 days. WE all know the outcome. I am counting on sloppy play by UCLA because of a new OC, and head coach and rustiness.

I wouldn't count on sloppy and rusty. I would count on a well coached team coming in and executing well. We just need to do a better job of it. Our first 2 games will be a good gauge for how we will do against UCLA. I think the bye will help them learn from their first game mistakes and prepare better for BYU as they will have seen 2 of our games and we will only have 1 of theirs to prepare for. I recall last year and playing Tulsa with only 1 game of footage and what a nightmare that was. UCLA is no Tulsa and UCLA will play a good team, but you can never take them for granite.

I am not one to be the grammar police as I make many mistakes myself but for BlueTrue's own good I have to point this out: The idiom is take them for GRANTED, not take them for GRANITE.
