Just to throw it out there. Was he confident, cocky, or something else? I think he is just being a salemen and has to sell himself right now. All I read was someone trying to market some of his assets to those that may not know about him. Do you go into a job interview and tell them of all your pitfalls and weaknesses?

Exactly. Nothing about Bryan is cocky. He could have been used to make far more eye-catching plays during his senior season but he played where he would be needed most in order to help the team. He could have had more sacks than anyone else on the team if they rushed him more.

Right now is Bryan's time to sell himself. If he doesn't, who will? He obviously didn't get great coverage due to the Mtn fiasco. This time is his job interview. I can't say it anybetter that kiwi so I'll just stop trying now. But cocky is one of the last words I would describe Kehl with.

LOL I love all the comments from T. Monson, G.B. Hinckley, and Kyle Whittingham...That cracked me up...and then Bryan Kehl said that John Beck told him to show that he had confidence in his ability to the draft scouts...And wow he definitely doesn't lack any of that! Theres a difference between confidence and cockiness...And you Bryan Kehl, are cocky! Love him as a player and heck of a nice guy...but needs to brush up on his humility...

Hmmmm, I didn't see anything in his comments that I would consider "Cocky". You reference Payton Manning down below as being a quiet competitor. I have heard Payton make statements just as "cocky" as the ones that you have condemed Bryan for making.

I don't think Kehl's comments were cocky at all. This is basically a job interview, and you highlight all of your positive attributes and display optimism and ambition. I thought he did a great job. An example of this is when he was asked if he thought he was better against the run or pass. The cocky answer would have been that he has no holes in his game, but instead he said that due to the system he is currently better against the pass, but that he felt he could be utilized to both defend the run and pass. He had a great answer there.

I cringed at his comment about the mtn though, because it could hurt recruiting in the future. I wish he has said something about the distribution improvements now that it is available on DirecTV. Oh well. He will do great in the NFL.

I have a confession to make. I think I took things out of context and misinterpreted Kehl's comments. I hate to admit when i'm wrong, but I was wrong. After re-reading the espn chat with Bryan Kehl I realize that with little national exposure you have to get your name out there and you have to show confidence in your abilities to be given a chance. I find that I tend to react to things I see or hear to quickly, instead of taking time to ponder them. That was my mistake in judgment and I apologize. I will think things through and make sure I take things with the correct context in my future comments...

The thing that will help BYU getting more people into the NFL is if the current BYU coaches do a better job of building relationships with NFL teams and coaches, provide more film on their players, and promote their players more. Players who have never played a game on TV (not even local to the college TV) are getting drafted because their schools are working to get them drafted.

During BYU's losing seasons under Crowton, BYU was getting multiple players drafted. It wasn't because of games being on TV, it was because Crowton knew people in the NFL and the program was doing a better job of marketing the good players to the NFL teams.

hey that is a good point. How many games for Troy or Tennesee State were on tv? Not too many, if any... And Leodis McKelvin and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie could both be top 15 picks in the draft...Props to you for that point.
