John Martinez visits Oklahoma State. 2 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: -3
I read in the paper that Martinez, his brother, and father all went to visit Oklahoma State recently. John, do you really wanna play for a man that has to tell everyone that he is a man who is 40? I like it when coaches go to bat for their players, but Gundy has a few screws loose. Gundy should learn a few things from Bronco on how to let cooler heads prevail instead of blowing up and making an absolute fool of himself.

Martinez you are a phenomenal athlete, but don't go play for guys like a pete carroll that make so many empty promises, or a coach gundy thats a complete lunatic...Come play for a real man that will treat you with respect and help you develop as a football player and a man. Jump on the BYU Train now while its pickin' up steam my friend, And we shall take you to the promise land...lol jk, but you could help us get in the end zone many times my friend!

Call for reference. Back it up about Carroll making empty promises. All I hear is he tells the players that they will be part of the USC family, which is true, that the best player gets the job, and that he'll push em so they can compete.

I agree, back it up. Besides, it makes for very informative reading when articles that have legitimate substance show Pete's actual doings. Bronco to me does things very well, so hearing how the other side does it creates interesting diversity.

Ummm...if you're holding your breath waiting for Martinez to don the Blue and White, you're going to be awfully disappointed. I don't have any inside info or anything, but I'd be willing to bet (cue Dr. evil voice) ONE BILLION DOLLARS that Martinez is manning the trenches at USC\LSU\Florida in 2009. I'm personally choosing to direct my pointless hoping and wishing towards Sua'Filo and Manti Teo. I believe that in those two cases we at least have a snowball's chance. (Side note on Sua'Filo - if he does sign with the Y, can we all agree right now that his nickname will be "X-Files"?). And if they aren't coming to the Y, I'd at least hope that they early commit to wherever they go so I can save myself the trouble of going back and changing my 2012 two-deep projection after signing day.

I just don't think we've quite reached the point where non-LDS five-star linemen will hop aboard the good ship Mendenhall yet. Doesn't help that Martinez half-brother (or step-brother, or something like that) Keni Kafusi is going to the U next year. Not that I think Martinez will go to the U, but if Kafusi had come to BYU, it would have helped us pick up Martinez.

The one thing about playing Oline at BYU and being good is that you'll be drafted where you should go (i.e. someone with John Taits size and ability got drafted right where he should have). The NFL has respect for our best Oline and Dline players. If he wants to stay in Utah to be close to his family, he has two choices. If he wants to stay in Utah and win with the best coaches, he has one choice-us.

Let's beat UCLA and Washington and see if these guys tunes start changing on our way to the BCS. Only one way to find out......
