I know he came and spoke with the team a few years back. I believe he and Steve Young came during fall camp and gave a pep talk. I think Detmer still has some strong ties to BYU...but yes, he does live in Texas.

I'm pretty sure it's dallas. I don't know the name of it but he is the co-owner with his brother.
I'd be interested to hear where this gym in Dallas came from. He indeed lives in Austin at the moment. Koy works there with him.

If it's true, it's new. Last I heard Ty and Koy were running an arm of an investment company that helps fundraising for charities. They are very good at it.

Good question; I've wondered that myself. I know he keeps a house and horses in Provo (or did), but I only ever hear about very spotty appearances for team or school.
Other than the time that Steve Young came and spoke with Ty, I don't think he's been involved with the program much. I know he's been doing a lot of work the past few football seasons with ESPN, and that may be why he isn't as accessable during those times. But, from just the way I am perceiving things, I don't think there is a strong connection between Young and the program or Bronco.
Steve Young, while he does not make too many personal appearances on campus, is a significant donor to the athletic department, and maintains friendships within the administration.

Ty actually came and spoke at the Austin institute, I believe it was in February. One of the things he mentioned being involved in is helping athletes with money management. He said we'd all be surprised at the number of these guys make their millions, and then are broke shortly after retirement.
