A few years ago Via Sikahema did a few articles. One of them was about Jimmy Mac. McGregor is right according to Vai. He'd go to his kids advancements in primary etc.

He was his own man but he sure put BYU on the national radar. He had one of the greatest if not the greatest year of any QB in college history. He threw for 47 tds! They listed him at about 6'1" & 185lbs. What you can't list is guts/moxie. In that area he was one of the biggest ever to strap on the cleats. There may have been stronger arms, there may have been faster qbs, there were a lot that had better size, but few if any that wanted to win like he did. He and his understudy were 2 of the best at that. You went to a game not hoping to win, but to see how far they'd win by. 50 points by the third quarter were almost common. He may be one of the main reasons Utah doesn't like BYU. He and his teammates pummeled them.

I am sure some of you know these things better than me but it is fun remembering. Ya, if his boy has anything like what his dad had, get him. I don't care what his size is.

I'm surprised he's only a junior, or that mcmahon has any kids at all. I hope Zach is good enough to be looked at BYU that'd be kind of cool-hopefully zach will watch football after he retires someday though

I thot Mac was awesome. I have mentioned this before, so I apologize, but from the sideline where I watched most of his games, his ability to read and predict and avoid was uncanny.

As a side note I still remember the bear's game where he was out because of injury and his backup was doing poorly. So after harassing Ditka for some time, he finally got to go in. In four passes through three possessions he threw 3 TDs and put the game away. It was incredible. The 3rd pass was for a large gain followed by the 4th for the 3rd TD.

In response to the heading, I got a chance to talk to most of the backups at the spring thang, and I was amazed at Munns. The guy is big and built. He had braces on both knees. Covey was rather small. But in my years of experience, the most important thing of all for a byu qb is moxie. That item was not readily available. If Munns can put it together, he would be my vote, based on what I saw when they were all in a line with the kids and dropping back and just tossing the ball. Of course, there is so much more to it than that, but wow, Munns looks like he is a real athlete.

Personally, I hope covey makes good, just because of the brains aspect. He comes from heredity.

I think his career was cut short because the 300 pounders finally got to his body. I don't know if they ever got to that moxie. Again, I hope an eye is kept on his kids.

The more I hear about Jim, the more I'm convinced that he is a pretty awesome guy. Just seems like he likes to be a little rebellious.

My favorite McMahon story was the week before his senior-year bowl game, he did a media interview while chewing tobacco. Funny guy to be a BYU legend. I'd still take Young or Bosco over him though.
