Miami used a late 2nd pick on Chad Henne.

The QB battle in Miami is now a threesome.

As bad as Miami is going to be next year (Jake Long isn't going to solve their problems alone) the fact that they took a QB in the 2nd rd versus trying to fill one of their million needs is not a great sign.

As many needs as Miami had, this isn't great news for John Beck.

You beat me to it...Henne is the phins 3rd overall pick with Phillip Merling a DE being their 2nd pick.

This just means Beck is going to work even harder to try and get the spot. I would have to agree with you on this Craig...Miami is in trouble again next year...Henne is not that good of a QB. Ya he has the size but I really don't think he is that good. Lets hope Tuna makes up for his stupid mistake and gets a TE or a FB. Cuz I noticed they needed some better blockers in those positions last year

I'm not sure how good Fasano is but he was the 53rd pick in 2006, and he was a Tuna pick. Henne was the 57th. Two players for a 4th round pick seems like a good trade to me. Anyhow, I'm not worried about Beck winning the job, but hopefully he'll have some good hands to catch his passes.

I don't really think this means that the sky is falling for Beck. We all expected the Dolphins to try and pick up a QB sometime. As it is they took the last QB available out of the handful that people were even talking about. Nobody thought Parcells was going to put all of his eggs in the John Beck basket. I don't think there is any way that Henne starts this season unless both Beck and McCown totally flop. This is still a two QB battle with a little extra insurance thrown in for good measure.

The fact they drafted a quarterback isn't so bad until you consider it was the teammate of the #1 overall pick to the same team. Henne isn't bad, but he isn't great either. His profile lists him at 6'2 and 228, which is very similar to John Beck, maybe a few pounds heavier. John has a strong arm as well so physically speaking John shouldn't be too threatened. And we know Beck has great work ethic and smarts. The only thing that concerns me is if Parcells is looking to maximize his #1 pick by giving him a former teammate to work with as added chemistry and motivation. I don't expect Henne to win the job over John, but it definitely makes things a bit more interesting in Miami.
