Lame, Just Lame (Henne vs. Beck) 2 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 5
I'm sorry, but my impression of the big tuna has gone down a thousand fold. Here you have a guy (Beck) thrown to the wolves last year on one of the worst teams in NFL history, and as a result, make a snap judgment as to what his long-term capabilities are? Give me a break. Henne would have gone in the 4th round had he been up for the draft last year.

I'm just a little annoyed that they would pick Henne in the 2nd round when they already have a QB who hasn't had a fair shot so far...

A ESPN analyst mentioned that Henne will just make Beck and McCown work harder for that starting position. I think it means nothing. I am pretty sure all they had was Beck and McCown on the QB depth chart. So they had to get one more. But I do wish they would of got a big WR or a good blocking TE or FB. But I guess Tuna knows more than we'll ever know when it comes to the Fins...

Actually, parcells hasn't proven anything in miami yet. I agree they should have gone after some better blockers.

Nothing wrong with a little competition. If Beck can't beat out McCown and Henne, he doesn't deserve to start in the NFL anyway.

Dolphins had a nice draft.

Don't most NFL teams have 3 QB's??? Henne just makes the third QB. And if I'm parcells, I wouldn't mind having some youngsters motivating each other. I see it as a non-issue. The job is Beck's to lose.

From By Vic Carucci of NFL.com

After Brohm was chosen, Miami promptly grabbed Henne with 57th overall pick. The Dolphins' new decision-makers, led by Bill Parcells, clearly have their doubts about the quarterback that the team's previous administration selected on the second round last year, John Beck.

Henne, a former Michigan standout, is expected to have an excellent chance to compete for the starting job and line up behind former teammate Jake Long, whom the Dolphins made the No. 1 overall choice. It is hardly a stretch to see Henne beating out Beck and veteran Josh McCown, acquired earlier in the offseason.

Jeff Ireland, Miami's new general manager, and other club officials liked the nine comeback victories Henne led during his collegiate career. They especially liked the way Henne handled himself through a series of quarterback-specific mental and physical tests.

"They had me go on the board and draw some plays from my offense," Henne said. "They gave me a couple of coverages to draw up, and (had me) draw up a play that will attack that coverage. They put me through a bunch of throws trying to fit balls into holes instead of just throwing it as hard as you can."

From Kel Kiper of ESPN:
The pick of Chad Henne in the second round tells you Miami is not sold on John Beck; however, I'm not sold on Henne. He has accuracy issues and a long delivery and he isn't mobile. I do like his toughness and he does have some of those intangibles you look for in a quarterback.
