Miami the new Philadelphia? Mormon footballdom? 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 1
It seemed for a while there that the Eagles were a team that I felt inclined to root for since they had the most BYU and Mormon connections, but I think the Dolphins may be taking that crown- I mean with Poppinga, Dennings, and Beck- along with Shawn Murphy from Utah State- and surely someone else that I'm missing- they are going to have a strong Miami First Ward football team

Their draft pick from Hawaii last year is Mormon. Reagan Mauia (I think). He is more famous for the youtube video of him running through a wall though.

Interesting point. I too found myself passively cheering for the Eagles because of the Mormon/Utah connection there. With Reid, Mahe, Curtis, Young and Ena (for a short time) I felt like I had something in common with the Eagles. I have never been a Miami fan, personally hate their colors and wasn't a big Shula or Marino fan, I have definitely taken an interest in them now that our boy Johnny B is there. Add to that Denney, Poppinga, and Murphy and it certainly makes it an interesting story line. I really hope they all find their niche there and contribute on a regular basis. Parcells, like him or not, has a reputation of making things better, and hopefully he can make things better there while allowing our local connections the opportunity to participate and contribute.

While I love to see BYU players do well in the NFL, I will continue to cheer for the team in most need of missionary work- the Dallas Cowboys. Make it rain Pac Man!!!! Go Cowboys!
