pac-10 preview-mentions BYU 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 27

"There is a real feeling that this could be the year"-BYU passing years vid.

ESPN believes that u-dub has to worry about going 0-3. Can the Huskies survive the early schedule? The season begins at Oregon, shortly followed by visits from BYU and Oklahoma. That's two top-25 teams and a national title contender. Most prognosticators will foresee an 0-3 start, which will surely reignite the booster crowd that wanted coach Tyrone Willingham fired last winter. If the Huskies could manage a single win, however, the run thereafter is far more manageable, with four winnable games preceding a trip to USC. Still, will Willingham and the Huskies be able to weather a brutal opening stretch and retain their confidence when the schedule becomes more manageable?

I notice that TCU get to play both BYU & yewtah on a Thursday. Seems like they get a disproportionate share of Thrusday games against the tougher MWC opponents. They must think the schedule makers have it in for them.

As our former mourner-in-chief would say, I feel your pain TCU.

that's funny you mention that, i remember in 2006 it seemed they had the best schedule, after going undefeated in '05 it seemed everything was set up for them, BYU at home, bye before the game, etc. Now they are just getting plain ol' tired of thursday games, Their thursday night record is sub .500 since 06

Ya poor babies! Like one of the other posters said. Tcu had a bye week before we played them in 06. Plus As we all know john had two bum ankles. The cougs went down there and stomped a mud hole in their A's! It wasn't even close. That's the day where the cougs wrote it down that this is the cougs conference too lose!

I had forgotten that TCU went two staight seasons with 11 wins and were then set up to the BCS game and then went 8-5...hmmmm I can't see BYU going 8-5 BUT it is eerily similar, except that we don't play a legitimatly good team like TX.
I have been rewarching some of the games from last season, and as good as Max Hall is it seems like he needs to check off some receivers better, he really stares down who he is going to throw to and in 3-4 games there were at least 3-4 passes that should have been intercepted but weren't (right through the defender's hands). Also, we were very close to a 9-4 season last year, there were a few games that got a little too close for comfort (Utah, UCLA, TCU, NM) yeah, yeah I know but we won who cares, but we need to blowing people out of the water next year. If we don't beat UW and UCLA by at least two touchdowns I will be worried. They (UCLA, UW) should not be that good this year, and we should not struggle against them. If we are going to compete with the big boys we need to squash the little ones.

On the flip side, we were VERY CLOSE in going 13-0, as well:

The regular-season UCLA game could have easily been decided on key turnovers (whether real or perceived by the biased PAC-10 refs... ); fewer penalties; or even better kicking.

The Tulsa game could have turned around if not for defensive players positioning for 1-time, big-play scores; penalties; and lack of preparation.
