Looks like Watkins had some good moments in the Raiders camp last week. I hope he can hold on and earn a spot.

As a Raider fan, I am cautiously optimistic about Watkins' chances with Oakland. Al Davis loves speedy guys and Watkins fits the bill. I just wish it was a better environment for fostering development and success. I've been a Raider fan for over 20 years now and I can't wait for the day Davis finally realizes he is choking the team with his peering-over-the-shoulder management. He needs to let the players and coaches do their thing. Okay, got on a tangent there! Good luck to Todd, hope to see him on Sundays this fall in the silver and black!

I took the time an compiled the following list about the good things Al Davis has done for the Raiders the past few years. Here's the list:

Very nice! I couldn't argue with that to be honest with you! What frustrates me is to hear other long-time NFL figures who say Davis is a brilliant football guy with a huge desire to win...yet he's too proud to let go of the reins and let other talented people do for him what he can no longer do for himself. Truely frustrating.

Funny how this has become an Al Davis thread, but I'll add to it. We have to give props to Davis for what he did or has done for the league in the past, but I don't think there is anyone out there who will take his side now and say he is doing good things currently. Seriously, though, he changed the way things worked, was a major player in joining the leagues, and is a huge part of why the NFL is successful today. Just a little past his prime and time for him to hang it up and let someone else make the changes that need to be made today.

As far as Watkins is concerned, I hope for the best for the guy. Every year I read these great things about BYU guys going to different camps and tearing it up only to get cut in the following days and weeks. Its frustrating, but I guess you have to take all those complimentary articles with their requisite grain of salt.
