Thanks for the link. When Ty won the Heisman I was 2 months away from finishing my mission. I did see the cover on newstands, but never got to read the article.
And in '83, in the highest finish by a Brigham Young athlete, Steve Young came in second, behind Nebraska tailback Mike Rozier. The fact that only McMahon among BYU quarterbacks advanced to NFL stardom seemed to confirm the wisdom of the voting.
That is absoutely hilarious in hindsight. Rozier was outstanding in the NFL... not. And of course, the rest is history with Steve Young.
