Thanks for the link. When Ty won the Heisman I was 2 months away from finishing my mission. I did see the cover on newstands, but never got to read the article.

And in '83, in the highest finish by a Brigham Young athlete, Steve Young came in second, behind Nebraska tailback Mike Rozier. The fact that only McMahon among BYU quarterbacks advanced to NFL stardom seemed to confirm the wisdom of the voting.

That is absoutely hilarious in hindsight. Rozier was outstanding in the NFL... not. And of course, the rest is history with Steve Young.

Thanks for the link. I thought I would read it to relive old times. I felt like there was some dislike or negativity from the guy that a BYU player won it. He couldn't even spell the name of a football legend. While reading it, I kept wondering who the bleep this La Veil Edwards guy is he is talking about. I hope he was embarrased over it. Nice.

there was a hint of negative unprofessionalism in the article, but it needed to be seen again to show how things may have changed since then.
