I was way excited to see Oneil Chambers do well on the ACT and become officialy eligable to join the Cougs. I still havent heard, however, how Bernard Afutiti is doing. I heard that there was a few things that needed wrapping up before he was cleared to play, but I havent heard anything since then. I saw that on Total Blue they have him on the current 2008 roster. Does any body know does this mean that he has been cleared to play, or does this just mean he signed with the Cougars back in Feb? This guy looks to be a pretty nice complement to our DL. Any good info will merit karma points!
So in this situation do you think no news is good news, no news is bad news, or no news is no news? I would tend to think the latter. That could be Jay Drews first assignment, find out how Bernard is doing.
No news is good news at the moment. I had heard that he, kedron paul, atem bol and seta pohahau all still needed to finish some qualifying work. Paul is going to chico st. on a scholarship and is reportedly going to transfer to BYU the first chance he gets. But Paul wasn't listed as a signed recruit back on signing day whereas the other 3 were. I don't remember what the source was on them needing to qualify. They were listed by the cougars as incoming recruits and I am now starting to think that the undone classwork may have just been a rumor. Based on the information that BYU has officially released, they should all be ready to play.
The source for those guys still having academic work to do was actually Bronco himself. In addressing the cougar club or media during spring practice and talking about the recruiting class, Bronco mentioned that those guys and Chambers had yet to qualify.

Brandon Gurney said on TBS that Bernard is wrapping things up and that it looks very promising. Coaches fully expect him to join them this summer.
