I've just found out that my Nephew, who lives in Washington will be getting baptized on Sept. 6th. My wife would like to go. This puts me only 2 or 3 hours away from the game, which would unfortunately be going on at the same time as the baptism. What do I do? Go out there "for the baptism" but then sneak away to the game? or just stay home and watch it in luxury on the DirecTV?
I'm sure they will change the baptismal time when the bishop realizes that the real Cougs will be there playing. Plan on going and then say "But, honey I didn't know the game was in Washington this weekend. Maybe we could get some tickets just in case." Don't tell her you really have them now.
Instead of going to the Church for the baptism, go to an old burned-down building. Say to your family, "Oh no! The Church burned down." They'll cry and cry, but deep down they'll think it was a pretty good joke. Then go to the game. On the way home from the game, decide not to go to the Church because it will be getting pretty late.
If that ward house has the right kind of satellite access, you can have the game going before the baptism starts, start it up again during the interlude when they're changing right after the baptism, and then turn it on for good after the service is over, right along with the punch and cookies.
Then you'll have the long ride back home to settle all the details of the divorce.
If the nephew is close enough family to travel out of state for a baptism, then his mom and dad are close enough to ask to move the baptism back 4 hours.
Amen, the baptism is 3 months away I doubt the programs have been made up. Just have it around 9 or 10am. If this young man really wants to start out his salvation right he needs to make room for the game, I mean let's be honest here.
