Nike ands Phil Knight are a big reason why Oregon will always be competitive.
Not only is the booster money huge, but every athlete in the world that signs a Nike contract is also in a way subservient to Phil Knight. There was a couple recent ESPN "between the lines" episodes about the advantage of having boosters like T Boone Pickens (Oklahoma State) and Knight (Oregon) etc. have in recruiting, facilities, and top pay for coaches and assistants. To be honest, Oregon wouldn't be half the program it is without the Nike affiliation. Nothing could be more appropriate than for Nike to be the "face" of that program.
