Here's my vote to make Harline a grad asst asap and eventually move him to asst receivers and tight ends coach.
With a pretty limited athletic set, the guy still knew how to get open and catch the ball, if he can impart any of that knowledge onto future players it would be a home run.
If it works even half as well as Brandon Domans hire, it would be perfect and he's definately a name when it comes to Utah as far as recruiting.
On a note for your names you've noted, I would love to see
Aaaron Francisco come to the Y to coach the secondary when his NFL days are up. He's a Kahuku guy (the Hawaii connects are priceless) and one of the most cerebral players in BYU history. Considering the shelf life of a safety in the NFL and the possibility that we lose Jamie Hill in the next 3-4 years, it would be nice to have Aaron interning under Bronco (I'm assuming that Bronco would take back the defensive reigns and hire a stopgap dbs coach)
others I would be curious to see if they could coach:
Rob Morris (he's made a lot of money in his career, coaching would have to be something he wanted to come back to); NFL chops (superbowl ring)
Curtis Brown - African American LDS player with a great work ethic
Dan Coats - African American with Utah ties and NFL chops
Louis Wong - don't you think he deserves a college shot somewhere? (Van Orden could take Timpview back over until they groom a successor - preferably another BYU alum)
Coaches that are verging on retirement age: all 50 yrs old +
Barry Lamb
Lance Reynolds
Paul Tidwell
Mark Weber
Coaches that eventually will have shots at head coaching positions:
Jaime Hill
Robert Anae
