Phil Steele's College Football Preview has ranked the University of Utah and Brigham Young University among the top 20 of its preseason top 25 college football poll.
The Utes are ranked 14th in the publication's preseason poll, while BYU is ranked 17th.
Phil Steele's College Football Preview is on newsstands now, and can be found on the web at www.philsteele.com.

Well, it's quite simple, really. Mr. Steele is sadly mistaken. Don't worry though, when Utah loses to a mediocre conference opponent (UNLV? Air Force, anyone?) in the opening weeks of the season, he'll be corrected. And then this time next year someone will see the Utah roster, think the same stupid thing that Steele obviously thought, and rank them in the top 20 again. Then they'll lose in the opening weeks and, well, the cycle continues...

I think he lost all credibility when he ranked USF #8 ahead of Georgia #9 who is almost everyone else's #1. This ought to be a lesson to all of you, children. Don't do drugs, umkay?! Drugs are bad, umkay?!

Phil Steele is out of the loop obviously. That will probably be next years score though. Utah 14, BYU 17. Another close victory for byu and heartbreak for the team up north. I take preseason rankings with a grain of salt. Kansas wasnt even in the top 25 last preseason and they went to a bcs bowl without even winning the big 12 title. Everyone who knows anything realizes that byu is far superior in every aspect of football than the U, so who cares what one outsider thinks.
But i've decided to make my byu/utah game prediction 5 months early. The final score will be 17 to 14 in favor of the Y which will lead to Whittingham resigning, then he will beg bronco for a job at his alma mater and we will hire him as a towel boy but he will suck at that as well and get canned before the end of the next season. Hence, coach Whitt will be begging for cash while playing his harmonica outside of temple square. Then the U will be in shambles for Hall and Collies senior year and we will return the favor from 2004 when they beat us badly on their way to the bcs when our program was in the pits, and we will completely and utterly destroy them in 2009. But be ready for one more good battle this season. (My above words can be disregarded, just as Phil Steeles Rankings should be. I just wanted to prove a point that any old moron can make worthless predictions.)

USF??? Wow!!!
I thought he meant the Univ. of San Francisco?
Then I started thinking about how challenging it would be to be their opponent...
Better not post the remainder of that line of thinking...
