They believe the yewts will beat BYU, but that BYU will still win the conference...hmm...they give yewts lots of credit but that'll mean they will lose at least 2 games. Tempting to take, but i'd rather go undefeated again!

I don't have a problem with the prediction of BYU losing to Utah, and here is why:

1) It's been a very close game two years in a row.

2) Both teams should be very good this year.

3) BYU has not lost a conference game in two years. That can't be sustained for a long time, even though we have a very good team. In fact, I predict BYU will go 11-1 this year with their lone loss in conference. I think that may be good enough for BCS bowl. At least I hope that is where they end up.

that's a very fair prediction. Would most of you here prefer a mwc championship beat both ucla/washington and lose to the yewts. Or beat yewtah go undefeated in the mwc again. and lose to wash or ucla? Hmm...

That's a tough one. I usually relish wins over the Pac-10 more than any MWC opponent including Utah, but an 11-1 record with an early loss would likely get BYU to a BCS bowl while a loss at the end of the year could be a BCS killer. Both options stink.

From the article:
The nine Mountain West members have good-sized student bodies, a good base of fans, and in the cases of teams like BYU, Wyoming, New Mexico and even UNLV, they're the only game in town.

Yes, BYU is the only game in town. The only game for 600 miles. It's great when the yewt slams are that easy. My respect for CFN just grew.

From the article:
Mountain West Game of the Year
BYU at Utah, November 22nd. Utah had the Cougars stuffed cold all game long and then gave up a 49-yard pass on fourth-and-18 to lead to BYU's game-winning score with 38 seconds to play.

Respect shrinking... shrinking... gone.
