BYU isn't looking for a loan, they want money for nothin' (and the chicks for free).
Nice Dire Straits plug Rhyno!
Anyway, I gaurantee every game will sell out this year. And again, I don't know why BYU needs proof that the fans will come out before they start expanding. From 1982 to 1993 was basically 11 straight seasons of sellouts. From '93 to '06 they still averaged better than 61K a game, during a relative down time in BYU football besides '96 and '01. The team has gone 22-4 the last two years and will again have at the very least an 11-2 record this year, setting things up for a nice run in '09. Recruiting is getting better and better. There's no end to the progression in sight. Now is as good a time as any to start solidifying your plan. Two more years of sell outs isn't going to change or prove anything. All it really will do is ensure that we keep having this discussion every week (or at least during the offseason).
I'm not saying that it can all be done overnight anyway. Not if you want to keep the use of the stadium for the following season. It would have to be done in stages. Stanford built a whole new stadium in one offseason (with the help of a little scheduling that didn't have any home games until October). Surely we can renovate and expand one side of LES in seven months. And why not just use that as a test. If your ulitmate goal is to increase by 20K, make it a four year project adding 5K a year. After the first year you could see if the demand is still there and after the second and the third year, etc. It's not like it has to all happen at once. And if tickets stop selling for whatever reason then you stop after the current phase you've completed until it ticket sales pick up again.
