In total honesty I don't know why there are so many subdued Cougar fans that come faithfully to games, but have no emotional involvement in the contest. I've never seen this phenomenon any were else on this planet.

It's quite simple really - we're not all full of alcohol. Everywhere else, people are fairly liquored up at the game and they lose their inhibitions. Those who aren't drinking lose their inhibitions as well because half the crowd is drunk, so who's going to remember if you make a scene? Would you hear any noise at all at RES if there wasn't alcohol?

That, and the fact that football is THE thing to do in Provo on Fall Saturdays. Therefore, you get people who go - not because they're die hard fans - but because that's the happening place.

In all honesty, I think the level of crowd noise we get now is probably a strong testament to the fact that you don't need alcohol to have a good time. That's not to say though that it shouldn't get louder.

You obviously don't sit in the right place. Our North End Zone seats, several rows behind the band, are FULL of enthusiastic fans believe me. Some of us are even old, but we yell and cheer with the best of them. Come and sit with us!

I am in the North Endzone one section west from the band and we are very loud there too. It seems the endzones are much better then the sides. Not sure why.

I've found Utahans to be a peculiar lot of people in total honesty. Some of their idiosyncrasies are admirable, but there are quite a few that drive me nuts.

That's probably true of anywhere you live. Atleast I've never lived anywhere and thought, "man, this people are perfect. Nothing they do is annoying"

Back to the point, I think we need is Lavell to do a commercial again only this year he says "Sit Down. Be Reverant. Encourage others to be Reverant. Talk about the weather. Just...NOT...Here"

That commercial would be excellent! It made me laugh out loud!!

Where i live in wisconsin, i occaisionaly go to the UW games, and its freakin' LOUD! Everybody's cheering. And the student section is harsh. They cheer at different points of the game "YOU SUCK!" or worse, "F*** YOU!" Yeah these are my experiences at badger games

Last year was exciting for me. I had my first ever "Golden Cougar" season tickets! Imagine my dissapointment when I went to the Arizona game and had not one avid fan sitting around me! In front of me was an older couple and my wife pointed out to me that the lady made her husband switch seats with her because I was too loud. (So of course, I got louder). Behind me was a young couple that had about 8 kids all under the age of ten and the thing they were most passionate about was making sure that we didn't get upset that the kids kept spilling things on us and kicking us all game long.... so I don't think it's an age thing, it's a passion thing. I love my kids, but I don't bring them to games. Why? Because it's nearly impossible to enjoy the game. I worry about everyone around me being annoyed with them because they just lose interest after about ten minutes. My oldest is almost nine and he is just barely getting to the point where it's acceptable to bring him. My friends, please leave your small children with one of your wards YW. I'm sure they'll do it for free so they can earn their YW medallion. It's definately for a good cause. Then you can enjoy the game and so can everyone else around you! I know some of you will be angry about this post cause I'm sure some of you probably bring your infants to "expose" them to the BYU football environment but please don't take offense. Merely an observation.

Maybe a dominate offense and defensive show will get people ralled up. A defensive shutout and an offensive blowout might help. Sacking the opponent's QB on every play, or a take away, or an interception might help, and scoring 60 to 80 points a games might make the game more lively.
