3 of top 8 College offensive coordinators Mormon 2 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 1
. . . with BYU ties according to CBS:

1. Norm Chow, UCLA
2. Gary Crowton, LSU
8. Steve Sarkisian, USC (I'm assuming he's Mormon, but maybe not)

I'm guessing statistically we are over represented here.

Rock on Cougs!

Sark isnt LDS, but that is still way cool that there are so many ties to BYU! Its kind of funny to think we ran both Norm and Gary out of town! I have always wondered what our team would be like with Bronco at the helm and Crowton as O cordinator. If Anae would just open the play book a little more I would be more then happy with what we got!

I'd take Anae over Crowton any day of the weak, especially saturdays.

So what? I bet Roman Catholics are 2 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: -8
Over-represented in the East, and Buddhist OCs are more prevalent in Cali! Perhaps you should have said "3 of 8 best college OCs have BYU ties".

Crowton is an enigma to me
1999 top offensive coordinator for Chicago Bears
2000 Bear fans wanted him out (I was at the Bears/Saints game and they told me themselves - btw it's the coldest place I've ever attended a sporting event. Why would anyone build an open stadium next to Lake Michigan?)
2001 BYU has a tremendous season (but loses to Hawaii badly and then lays an egg in the Liberty bowl to Louisville)- Crowton recruits a top 10 recruting class
2002 7 losses
2003 8 losses averaging 12 points in those games and scoreless against Utah in Provo (honestly the darkest game in BYU history)

2006 Crowtons offense gets killed by Broncos boys in the Liberty bowl

2007 Crowton wins a national championship with LSU

Almost everywhere Crowton goes, his rookie year there is tremendous and then a appreciative falloff. Who knows what to expect for LSU this year?

On another note: In addition to the list of LDS (and non LDS Sarkisian) offensive minds in football..... add Mike Leach (TTech head coach and the mastermind of the spread there)

scratch Danny White to the current cache of LDS coaches as he's resigned from the AFL team in SLC.
He was my top choice prior to Crowton and Bronco for BYU
