BlueSouth,

Look man, I didn't mean to start a big argument over this. As you can probably tell by some of the responses, little stats about LDS guys in football mean a lot to most of us. I'm guessing that perhaps you are not LDS and don't really understand this...but let me try to explain...

You're right, other religions might not be like this, but it's just a culture thing. I mean, I live out East, and if I see someone in public with a BYU shirt on, I'm going to think it;s cool and start talking to them. It's simply because in our faith we all live the same values so closely, that we feel that we have very much in common with any other mormon. In fact, A mormon in California has the same Sunday school lesson as a mormon in north carolina as a mormon in Mexico, as a mormon in south africa as a mormon....you get the point. Combine all of this with the fact that we are relatively small in number, and you can begin to see why it hits close to home when we here about other famous mormons.

Anyway, I apologize if perhaps you didn't realize that this is part of the mormon culture. But it doesn't matter, you don't have to understand the culture to be a BYU fan and we're obviously glad to have another fan. In fact, many of us think it's pretty cool to have a non-lds fan. I know "Catholicmat" is one of my favorite posters on this board and I think many agree.

Anyway, sorry for any confusion. Tell us, where are you from and how did you become a fan??
Go COUGS!

Actually, Catholicmat admitted to being a less active member a while back. But, point taken.

BlueSouth,

Is that really the sig pic you are gonna choose for a sports message board? It just seems a bit inappropriate.

. . . with BYU ties according to CBS:

1. Norm Chow, UCLA
2. Gary Crowton, LSU
8. Steve Sarkisian, USC (I'm assuming he's Mormon, but maybe not)

I'm guessing statistically we are over represented here.

Rock on Cougs!

What say you????

Sark isnt LDS, but that is still way cool that there are so many ties to BYU! Its kind of funny to think we ran both Norm and Gary out of town! I have always wondered what our team would be like with Bronco at the helm and Crowton as O cordinator. If Anae would just open the play book a little more I would be more then happy with what we got![/quote

I hope your kidding we had Crowton as an OC for much to long. Sure he had a great year at LSU but look historically at his SECOND YEARS wherever he has been as HC or OC once people figure out his sytem he's dead. I'm sorry but after our last two years how can you perfer Crowton to ANAE? I'm at a loss and don't know what else to say. You have turned my blood cold.
