You really think that UW has a chance at Oregon? I'm not saying they don't, and I would love it if they did, but I just think that UW would have a really hard time pulling that one off.
This is my favorite, when someone makes a prediction and you in essence guffaw at it. You know as much about both programs as I do, it's the first game of the year, emotions will be running high, so who knows what's going to happen? Not you. Why can't UW pull off the win? Inexperienced injured teams have won on the road before. It's not like it's impossible. Plus, since I will be rooting for them I may as well pick them.
Maybe I'm not egotistical enough to see this but I didn't think gm was guffawing at your pick, I think he was politely voicing that he himself thought it would be a long shot. If you aren't tough enough to have your opinions second-guessed maybe you should pick another venue to make them known...
As far as big teams scheduling patsies in the preseason, maybe that's how we REALLY know BYU has arrived- we have Northern Iowa Utah State on the schedule

. I think the big schools typically think the preseason is kind of "warm up" for the REAL season, which is conference play where they compete for an automatic BCS bid. So they don't want to jeopardize their chances by risking injury/horrible defeat for all 4 weeks of non-conference play. That in contrast with a non-BCS school that has to go undefeated AND play good teams to get a sniff from the BCS, thus making theirs a much more 12-game season, rather than just meaningful conference play. Just a thought!
