SURPRISED BY THE HEADLINE SATURDAY MORNING. IN MY OPINION IT WAS IN BAD TASTE; MATT PAYNE DID NOT LOSE THE GAME. THE TEAM
LOST THE GAME. MATT DID HIT 2 OUT 3 FIELD GOALS AND IT WASN'T MATT THAT GAVE UP THE FINAL TOUGHDOWN TO BOISE STATE. MATT
HAS PLAYED GREAT ALL YEAR, NOT TO MENTION HIS TACKLING ABILITY
AFTER HE PUNTS OR KICKS OFF. I SIMPLY FELT HE DID NOT DESERVE
THAT KIND OF RECOGNITION.
It seems ironic that Matt Payne is blamed for the loss to Boise, when in reality the blame should have been on the player who went off sides and set up the 2 point safety in the beginning of the game.
I agree. The blame is not AT ALL on Payne. We lost that game in many other moments earlier. However, I am not hearing too many people IF ANY that are blaming the loss on Payne. They do however remark that Payne could have helped us WIN IT, but they have never outright put the blame on Payne. And that is something I am glad about.
