I've just got a couple of questions about this. It happened nearly two months ago and the police and BYU finished their investigation nearly a month ago. What's the hold up? Does it take the County Attorney two months to figure out if the case needs to be prosecuted? And what is up with the Honor Code Office? Alcohol, pornography, possible sexual assault--if these were "normal" students and the evidence was there,
they'd be home within the week. Are they getting special treatment because of their football affiliation?

The County Attorney and BYU's Honor Code Office need to either take action or come out with a statement saying that nothing was found and let these guys get on with their lives.

AGREED! I really hate how long this is taking. It shows me that they don't really have a case...or that they are trying hard to make a FIRM case.

It really bothers me that it is taking this long. I hope they will at least explain WHY it took so long when they finally come forward.

I agree that they DA should get things settled one way or the other. But I wouldn't for 1 second think that the HC office is cutting the players slack because they play football. In fact, if the only HC violation is some alcohol and porn then they still might get a severe punishment, as opposed to a regular student would only get slapped on the wrist.

Today's Deseret News Stated, "Bryson has called the case complex and said that it would take weeks to sort out what happened. A source close to the case said two weeks ago that it could take weeks to wrap up the investigation and determine what charges, if any, might apply.
Bryson and the prosecutors he assigned to the case have declined to provide any clearer timeline for a decision in the possible criminal case. Bryson also released a statement saying he would make a public announcement when a decision was reached.
University spokeswoman Carri Jenkins said Monday that BYU's review of possible violations of the school's honor code continues."

Heaven help us if something really complex happens in Utah County. If it is such a "complex case," perhaps we need a more intelligent County Attorney and Honor Code Office. And, I wonder, will "the weeks to sort out what happened" be the same weeks until the football season is finished?

I agree that it is taking a long time, but with some expirience in the field I know these things take a long time. You wouldn't want another instance like the one 8 months ago would you? Where everyone jumped the gun only to find the facts were not actually facts. Or we could have a case like Kobe Bryant where after a year the "victim" (I hate that word, it should be accuser) decided she really didn't want to have to testify. Case dismissed. Now the DA in Eagle, CO looks like a complete moron!

For the DA to put together a case, and not look like an idiot in the aftermath, they have to have solid evidence with commitments from everyone to go forward full steam. Until they get that, they can't prosecute. But if they feel they have something, they'll take as long as they need to make sure they can win the case.

There is a lot to it, so don't just think they are dragging their feet.
