The following is a list of coaches I heard were banging down the door at the missionaries appartment once they learned that only an active LDS member could coach at BYU, and that there MIGHT be a chance that the position is open next year:
Lou Holtz - he sees how much good press he is getting with one 38 year old player at SC and wants to have 20 of them at BYU
John Madden - he plans to impliment a video game instruction method
Mike Ditka - he swears to give up the anger problem
Red Aurbauch - he thought he'd give football a go
Steve Spurier - I heard he already was baptized, just inactive
Mike Holmgren - Already a member, but dissatisfied with the millions he is making
Urban Meyer - missionaries wouldn't even open the door for him
Dick Vermeil - He's already really emotional and will be suseptible to a quick conversion, so thusly the top real prospect.
What inspired my list? My religion teacher told me a story of how missionaries in a foreign country had trouble cashing checks and getting their bikes fixed, so they went out and baptized a banker and a bike repair man (great story by the way). So the answer is simple, if we don't have 3,000 head coaches knocking down the door to be the next BYU head coach, we just need some missionaries to tract into the best college head football coach of all-time and convert him and make the BYU head coaching job his church calling.
All stupidness asside, I have the feeling that Crowton and the COUGARS will do just fine in MWC play going 6-1 and making a bowl game and winning it for an 8 win season.
GO COUGS!!
