Webster definition of a FAN
1 : an enthusiastic devotee (as of a sport or a performing art) usually as a spectator
2 : an ardent admirer or enthusiast

This is a fan site. As cougar fans, we follow our school through the good and the bad. We lost to a good BC team, and really we had a chance to win the game. Yes BC is a good team, look what they did last week. If you "realist" want to start a BYU "realist" website that would be great, but stay off the FAN site.

come on over and make us 'realists' stop chatting on this holy site. give it up! the cougs aren't gonna do what y'all expected, at the beginning of the season. by the way, look this one up in webster's: silence. cause that's all i here. you guys have no substance to your arguements. finally, someone asked what 4 games the cougs could lose, and i'm saying could, not will, but very likely: air force, tcu, csu, and wyoming. why? all 4 teams have great defenses, and byu seems to be playing to lose, not to win.

Reggie, there's no making you realists not be able to chat on this site. Just make it VERY clear who your team really is because you are NOT a fan of BYU. Don't come on here as a fan when you clearly are not. Just let us know who you cheer for so we can understand where your heart and loyalty lies.

Longhorn, did you even read any of the official game thread? We already gave our opinions. We all know we blew it. The difference between us and you is that you called us out after we had already been here. You didn't come back after a win UNTIL someone called you out. Whatever, stick to your longhorns.

It has been a really long time since I posted anything on this site. After watching a recording of the game, I was pretty frustrated. We now have 2 losses that we had numerous opportunities to record as wins.

On the other hand, tomorrow is a new day, and a new game is waiting next weekend. For all of the so-called realists on this site, I find it interesting that the major focus of your arguments seems to be how BYU just can't get it done and will be resigned to choke status for the rest of forever. Being realists, I would think that you would see the team and program in the situation they are really in--rebuilding.

Several of you have talked about how LaVell did this and LaVell did that and nobody can do what LaVell did. True, no one will be Lavell. Should they be? I think they would betray themselves if that was their focus.

I think Bronco deserves some time to work through his strategy. I think he is on the right track, and I believe he will get the job done. Days like today are frustrating, but I don't think they are evidence of a fatal flaw of some kind. Next week will be a new game and another opportunity to win. There are things for the team to learn from the loss today, and hopefully we will see improvement next week. For starters, the snapping needs some serious attention. That being said, I have seen continuous improvement ever since Bronco took over the head coaching job. If he can continue to make this happen the results can only get better, too.

I suppose the realists are entitled to think what they want about things, and it would be silly for me to sit here and say the team doesn't have things to work on. I don't think the place to start, however, is by crying about how we will never be great. I don't find "see I told you we suck" posts productive, either. You people are the type I hate to watch games with. If you are so tortured and soured by what you are watching, do yourselves a favor and just stop paying attention!

I'm a realist. I said BC 28, BYU 24 (though I was really holding out hope that BYU would win). I would rather be labelled a BYU homer though.

"Realist" is loser-speak for "Pessimist". Which is the opposite of "Fan". "Realists" were saying Boston College was a 3-TD favorite. That is NOT being realistic. Who gained more yards? Who won the turnover battle? You being wrong was NOT a fluke, it was a proven expectation.

The glass isn't half empty. The glass is preparing itself for a full 9 win season. [/color:b07945c624]

AAhh...how poetic.

we showed we can play with anyone.

I hope you're kidding? Play with anyone? After beating Tulsa, and playing overtime to an overrated BC team that looked horrible?

Maybe if you say "we can play with anyone in the conference..." But don't kid yourself. If BYU played in the ACC this year, they finish with 4 wins at most. So don't say "anyone."

BleedPurple why is it you think BC is over rated. They are the most consistent team the last 6 years. Very disipled, not flashy, but they get the job done. They beat a Clemson team who UPSET #9 Florida St. today.
Bc didn't play their best game today, to say they are overrated is not accurate.
If Byu could lock down on mistakes(penalties, ST Errors) we would be 3-0.
