Yeah the more I read about him the more amazed I am right now. Hopefully things keep looking up for him. There was a huge article on him, in the BYU Magazine. It makes sense that he is related to the ultra stern and spiritual Mendenhall that built the Polynesian Cultral Center. I hope his success stays up, because its fun to cheer on a guy like him.

He's definitely the right man for the job, I have to admit before he was hired, when it was between him and KW I was actually in the KW camp, I'm glad I was so wrong.

While it's been quite enjoyable for an old BYU grad to watch Mendenhall grow into the position as the Cougar head football coach, it's also been a good opportunity to get to know the man. I don't think he'll ever be as relaxed as LaVell because that's not his style, but let me say that he's impressive personally as well as professionally. I don't cover him all that much (not like Darnell Dickson and Jason Franchuk do), but I've gotten to see him as just a great guy besides being a solid coach.

Different person who coincidentally has the same first name. Lloyd took over for Cowley, and Cowley has since moved to CA. I am assuming that is what you are referencing when it comes to the name change.
