Why oh why 7 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I was happy to watch the game on KBYU last night, but I was absolutely annoyed with what I was hearing at the end of the game. Even our own broadcasters were giving excuses to why BYU was going to win instead of just relishing the win. Who cares that Louisville didn't have two of its stars for this game, in the end and the books it is going to say BYU won, not that BYU won because Louisville had two injured players. What ifs are so pointless in sports. Who knows, would BYU win with their two players, we do not know, so just leave it out.

I agree completely. It wasn't Toolson though. It was the lead announcer. (Can't remember his name.) It was like he couldn't believe we could beat mighty Louisville.

You're right that it was a great win but you can't deny that we beat a depleted team. I didn't notice him harping on that fact. If he said it again and again then that's poor broadcasting but it's his job to mention it at least.

BYU did not play a perfect game last night either, we gave up about 20 points in easy missed shots.

Louisville shot 70% in the 1st half and may not do that again all season.

For all practical purposes we could have just as easily won by 15-20 if we had executed and UL had played like they did in the 2nd half, in the 1st.

Credit Louisville for being very good and yes, short Palacios and Padgett, but we outplayed them more than the score would show.

If I had a nickle for every time the guy said "BYU is hanging in there"... well sir, I'd have a lot of nickes! "Hanging in there" implies that an inferior opponent is keeping the game close, but is still losing. Besides the fact that we led most of the game, we were also clearly NOT the inferior opponent.

Craig, I'm not sure we gave up 20 points with missed layups, though it felt like that. We probably left 10-12. On the other hand, UL probably gave up 6-8 points on missed layups also.

That's true, I did notice that they said things like 'hanging in there' or 'keeping it close' when we were leading. I thought that to be a bit strange, especially for a BYU broadcast.
