#18 Louisville

ESPN predicts a 4-seed for the 'Ville in the NCAA Tourny.

Yes, the BCS still exists in basketball...

In defense of Lousiville they are a much different team now than when we played them. Still...they are getting some major love here.

I think that this is about where we should be. I did a little analysis to see if there really was a BCS bias. Here is what I found.

Teams with 20+ wins not in the top 25

School - Conference - RPI
Gonzaga - West Coast - 39 *
W Kentucky - Sun Belt - 49
S Alabama - Sun Belt - 34 *
Stephen Austin - Southland - 57
Robert Morris - NorthEast - 100+
New Mexico - MWC - 54
BYU - WMC - 29 *
Kent State - Mid American - 43
Rhode Island - A-10 - 26 *

* also receiving votes

My first thought was that every team with 20+ wins in a BCS conference is in the top 25 so maybe there is a bias. But looking at the RPI numbers it looks like BYU is ranked about where they should be.

Also note that at the time I did this there were three teams in the top 25 that had less than 20 wins and all of them are in "BCS" conferences.

Kansas State (18-6)
ND (19-5)
Pittsburgh (19-6)

Not entirely sure what those stats say about a bias but my gut tells me BYU is ranked about where they should be. Now if they could play all the NCAA tourney games in the Marriott center that would be a different story alltogether.

No doubt the Cards are playing better later in the season. But do you think BYU is playing better or worse than they were in the middle of the season, when they had games at Boise State, Wake Forest, and UNLV?
