Look at the TV exposure from a MTN Network business perspective.
1, Don't show the BYU games and get the BYU fan base upset. That will inspire BYU fans to hound their TV networks to add The MTN. Isn't it obvious The MTN knows that if they don't show SDSU games there will still be
no reaction by SDSU fans. The MTN cannot count on any other MWC fan base to get passionate except BYU. The MTN is purposesly targeting BYU because they know they can rely on a passionate response by BYU fans to complain to their cable providers.
2. The only way The MTN will be successful is if the network rally's
all nine conference schools. The MTN already has BYU fans in the bag. They know that. The MTN is trying to appeal to and increase the interest of the other eight conference schools. The network will fail if the other eight schools' fans do not get involved or excited.
3. Yes, BYU is The MTN's bread and butter. But the MTN does not want to portray that the network is only about BYU. IF BYU dominated the TV coverage and talk shows then other MWC schools would lose interest. Think of this long term. We want the entire MWC pumped up and not BYU to steal the show or else The MTN will fail.
By showing less BYU games could be a business tactic. Then again I could be wrong.
