My personal opinion on the NCAA seeding process is that BYU will forever be downgraded by the committee for the added hassle BYU brings to the process. BYU is the only team that constricts the committee's full latitude of scheduling by virtue of the No-Sunday-Play.

I just think it is human nature to ding the people who cause you grief, and unfortunately BYU does that simply by getting into the field of 64. I think we have seen it in our past unfavorable seedings, and again last year having to play Xavier 90 miles from their campus.

I didn't feel like starting a whole new thread just for this but...did the volleyball team win again tonight. Anybody know???

Tough call really. Last year, we came up on the business end of the exact same potential for glory/potential for problems dilemma, and boy did it not turn out the way we'd hoped. We drop two seeds and lose an away game to a team the Selection Committee was PRAYING would make for a good instate rivalry game 2nd round (funny, they were right!), and Las Vegas gets bumped up a seed and manages to ride it to a Sweet 16 berth. Hmm... an away game in Vegas for all (or none of) the marbles?
Yep, on the links you call that a risk-reward hole.
Of course, on a dive you call that PETTING A SHARK AND HOPING YOUR HANDS STAY A PAIR!!!
Lets hope to make it outta the water without any shark bites.

They swept Pepperdine 3-0.

Too true, Sno. I was there. Drove all the way from DC to watch an absolute AWAY GAME. I also can't help but wonder if everyone's intentions weren't as pure as the driven snow, considering the 1-9 matchup was an instate rivalry, neither school more than 3 hours from Rupp Arena, in a game that, incidentally ended up going to OVERTIME. THAT's ratings, folks. All of the sudden, the conspiracy-theory-hair on the back of my neck starts twitching (calm down, only a little bit), considering how "fair" the officials were making an 8 point halftime game, to the tune of 7 fouls to 1 in the first six minutes of the second. Like I said, only a little bit.

And before that, how else does one explain THREE CONSECUTIVE 12 seeds, the most recent two against the DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPION, and the one before that, oh, against SHAQUILLE O'NEAL? Gah!!!

Even LESS help is that the Mountain West's only voice on the Selection Committee happens to be, THAT'S RIGHT, the Athletic Director from just up the road where you see red everywhere! MAN, what does a team have to do to get a break around here? Oh yeah, win against a stacked deck, I guess.

(Sorry all, just needed to vent!)

I agree, we do not benefit in any way from playing Utah again. This is a best case scenario for BYU in the MWC tourney.
