Best shot to beat UNLV on their home floor 5 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 10
So I thought this would be an interesting discussion to have . . .

Who has the best shot at beating UNLV on their home floor in the conference tourney.

I know we are all BYU homers, but seriously BYU got blown to kingdom come last time they played down there, so I think there may be some other teams that could knock UNLV out before the championship game.

I think the team with the best shot may be our bitter enemies from up north.

Utah beat them at Utah, and played them really close down there last time they played. I don't know what it is, but I think Utah really gives UNLV some match up problems. Maybe if Boylen is smart enough to start his best player we'll face them in the championship game . . .

I actually think UNLV is going to have a tough time winning three straight in three days, no matter who they are matched up against. Especially because they will likely have to play UNM and BYU on back to back nights. This UNLV team is not last year's. The team is small and not very deep. The team really only goes 6-7 players deep. They have certainly outplayed their potential, but multiple straight games is going to be very, very difficult for them. Here's what I think are each team's likelihood's of winning the tourney:

BYU: 2:1
New Mexico: 4:1
UNLV: 5:1
Others: 10:1

I think we do.

We got creamed at UNLV earlier but they had one of their best if not best shooting nights. If I recall correctly they shot nearly 60 percent from behind the arc. That's tough to beat and tough to reproduce.

UNLV plays small, fast ball which leaves their players very tired as already pointed out. We play fast too, but if needs be we can slow our game down and still win. If UNLV slows down they have no hope of winning; it's how they win games. Such a style is hard to maintain over three games.

I'm guessing UNM beats them. If UNLV wins against UNM and we meet UNLV in the final UNLV will be pretty worn out.

Seriously, If not BYU, than nobody. UNLV is pretty hot right now. I think they will be very tough for everyone, including BYU to beat. I give BYU a 60% chance of beating UNLV.

The later on the tournament goes, the tougher UNLV is to beat. Each game will pick up more and more fans, until the championship is a bigtime home court advantage. Someone needs to beat UNLV in the first 2 rounds.
