I'm glad that some BYU fans could sacrifice for the body of the MWC, now that their was some good exposure to how hostile drunk rebel fans can be (in provo too) hopefully the negative hype will bounce the tourney the 'ell out of vegas and somewhere less fascist. Perhaps a rotation to each team...maybe have the last seed have home court every year. Either way, i'm sick of their gay "rebel" chant and ready to go somewhere with less street porn and more BBQ places.

Amen to that brother! I can't speak for the rest of the comment about drunken fans taking shots (I only saw the same sorry broadcast as most of the rest of us on this board), but there's better barbecue to be had elsewhere.
I mean, they DO have In-N-Out, and having married into a California family, I can attest to the virtues, but it gets old after the 3rd or 4th double-double animal-style in one weekend!

Why not let the season league winner hold the MWC tournament the next year.

I have it on good authority that a certain former BYU standout linebacker whooped some a$$ Saturday defending his brother and sister-in-law at the game.

Apparently his SIL was stomped on by rushing UNLV fans. Apparently it took several officers to get him cuffed and he put some people in an ambulance (I understand there were 3 guys he was fighting off). I understood he has some broken bones in his hands as a result.

Anyway, by the time he was released, the charges against him were going to be, or were dropped according to my source.

All I can say is, I am glad somebody stood up and took care of business.

I used to not think having the tourney in Vegas was all bad. It's fun to go down there for the weekend after all. I'd been a couple times before Denver and we went again this year. I guess I'd never been to a UNLV-BYU matchup or something because WOW, I am 1000% for moving it now! Not only because we all know UNLV would NEVER EVER EVER have won on any other floor but also after seeing how downright RUDE the fans were, we need to get the heck out of there.

There is a point when friendly banter becomes digusting slander. The UNLV fans went WAAAAY past that point.

As annoying as their Reee-BELS/airball/firstdown crap is, good on 'em for making up a chant that really gets on everyones nerves. They even have the right to not quite understand basketball and expload when ANY call is against them. I'll even go as far as to say they can even drink their disgusting beers and puke all over the stairwell if they want (true story).

The problem I get is when they are telling all the BYU fans to F-off because they're Mormons (not just the regular FU-BYU junk), to have complete strangers in my face with their stinky alcho-breath and grab my hands to stop clapping when we make a good shot, and to be physically pushed out of the arena and YELLED at to "GO HOME, GET THE F--- OUT STUPID MORMONS, GET OUT OF OUR STADIUM LOSERS" among other things when we lose the game. (It's not like I'm some big loud burely biker guy...I'm a 4'11" girl!)

They were worse than Utes and Cowboys combined on Saturday! At least those hooligans have the whole personal space thing going on and will usually shut up if they win/lose save for a few comments under their breath or behind your back. Even when they do yell something awful, they usually have a friend holding them back...I wouldn't say it's the WHOLE FRIGGIN' STADIUM doing it.

The thing that gets me the most is BYU IS THE BIGGEST REASON THE MWC GOES TO UNLV FOR THE TOURNEY! If they didn't have half of utah coming down, there is NO WAY they'd do it there. For the love do your stupid chants, but don't be nasty and rude to the fans that are just trying to watch their team.

The UNLV fans are CLASSLESS.

BYU fans need to petition together to STAY HOME until we move it to Arizona!!

To be serious, if they touch you tell an usher and you can smirk as they are escourted from the venue. (That's if the 90 year old security guard can push the 300lb drunk blob of lard out). I read in an article about the whole thing that the MWC had done some extra things to prevent it such as the fence (turns out the border patrol called and wanted it back), and the public announcements. After the whole thing the officials went on to say BYU fans do the same thing in the Vegas bowl when they win. Yeah we get drunk, attack the other teams band and fans, shout religous intolerance, curse the other teams players, threaten the wives and families of the other team's players, and generally get arrested in groups. Sounds like the perfect ending to a perfect bowl game!

If they would AT LEAST play it in a different gym. Heck there has got to be a high school around there that has two baskets! They don't even need nets we'll bring our own! Anything has to be better than UNLV's home floor!
