Coach Night just said "UCLA will have to get over the hurdle Texas A&M before they play UCONN." No mention whatsoever of BYU. We are definately the underdog but that is fine with me. Just Win Cougs!!!

Yesterday afternoon I thought it was Knight that said BYU is dangerous and lives and dies by the three. Whoever it was said something to the effect of, 'If BYU gets hot they will win easily over A&M and could create real havoc for UCLA in the second round but I would hate to rely on shooting to win a basketball game.'

It might have been Lavin? All I know for sure is they called him Coach and he made comments like unto the aforementioned ones.

That's an odd statement. While no one wants to rely solely on 3-point shooting to win, the ability to shoot is arguably the MOST critical element of a team's success. If you have bad defense, it is likely that you will not win often. But if you can't make baskets, it is guaranteed that you will never win. Moreover, given the presence of Plaisted, and to some degree Cummard, it is totally inaccurate to say that BYU it a team that lives by the 3-point shot.

Actually it's completely accurate, and it's 100% why BYU lost to UNLV last week. BYU has lived and died by the 3 all season long.

True, but look at the wins and losses column. Going by the numbers, shooting seems to pay off more than hurt the Cougars. Plaisted is a freak of nature, but he isn't a pounder under the basket and gets into foul trouble. If Trent can't be productive offensively and defensively, then the Cougs will have to go to their outside game to win. In my mind, they should rotate Miles in frequently to bang with A&M's bigger guys and wear them down, then bring Trent in to use his quickness on them. A&M scares me, BYU will have to play a solid game to win. If the outside shooting isn't on, they likely won't win. But if they didn't have the outside game they may not be here in the first place.
