Give credit to A&M. The only way they were going to win that game was to come shooting lights out. That's what they did. Add that to the Cougar's inability to rebound and shoot free throws (neither of which were totally unexpected, but far worse that hoped), and that is a formula for a solid loss. A&M is a good team, but BYU could have easily won the game if they really wanted to.

Sure, but this happens every year. Shouldn't we have known this could have happened and put a body on him? People are saying the exact same thing as the year we lost to Syracuse. "Wow! Who would have thought that McNamara was going to hit so many three's? Wow! That was very surprising!" I am tired of hearing this. It tells me that Rose is a good coach not a great one.

On the way home last night I told my wife that we would come out scared and fall behind quickly. 11-0 to start. It's time to wake up and realize that we suck at basketball. Our team is never ready for the big game under Rose, and the Louisville game doesn't count. One time this year doesn't change the fact that we lost 4 big games because we were scared, nervous, had the jitters, etc.

I really thought this team was going places when we beat Utah at Utah, until I realized that Utah is a really, really bad team.

I think a little more credit is due.

BYU beat UNM at UNM and utah at utah, to me those are big games.
Louisville absolutely should count.
We played a great game and lost to the number 1 team in the country (UNC), big deal that is still a great game we had, I would't call that not being prepared or playing scared.
We lost to Mich St, that is too bad but they are a better team than us.
We lost to WF on the road which I think is a game we were unprepared for and fits your argument.
We lost to UNLV, the 2nd best team in the conference on their home court.

Call it what you want but I don't expect BYU to beat the odds in every big game they play. Winning against against the odds isn't the norm for any team.

IF BYU had played last night like they did against UNC, they win this game and it isn't even close. There is something to be said about getting up for a game. Last night the body language said "we really don't belong here" and it showed in their play.
Here's to hoping next year that someone takes a leadership role that gets into people and lights them up. Cummard, are you listening?

Agreed, but then we shouldn't be complaing about those types of losses, we should be complaining about this one.

And yet they're still playing and we're not.

Now that is really funny!

You seem to be searching for reasons to feel better about the season. I can't see anything that makes me feel better about the season. If we had lost to UCLA in the LV bowl, none of the other victories would have made that loss more palatable. None of those games matter to me because we blew it when it really matters. We don't win when it really counts and that is the MWC tournament and the NCAA tournament.

My point about the Louisville game not counting is that it didn't help us the rest of year. Who cares how you do in the beginning if you suck at the end. And that is exactly what BYU did. We should have beaten UNLV and A&M. We couldn't do either, and it won't change anytime soon.

I too thought that UNM and Utah were big victories for a while. But neither team is very good. We beat UNM on the road in our 9-21 season. That didn't make us any good that year. Utah and UNM are both average teams at best.

For me it is all about winning when it matters and we proved, again, that we can't.

I don't know if this means anything to the forum but I have to get it out. When Plaisted gets the ball and goes up for the shot he can only go one way. If he has dreams of playing in the NBA he better learn to go both ways for a shot.
