Latter-day what? 2 Months ago Karma: 17
I'm not trying to be thin-skinned here. I just found this reference to Josh Smith on ESPN.com interesting:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailydime?page=dime-080505

Look at the immediate right under #4 of "extreme behavior". J.A. Adande writes, "Josh Smith, Hawks forward: One day he's a latter-day 'Nique, the next he's, um, not."

Is it another cheap, somewhat veiled shot at Mormons, or is he praising Dominique by lumping him as a good guy with the Mormons?

p.s. Another thread brought to you by the slow off-season

Go Cougs!!!

Um, I think you missed the point entirely. He's saying that some days he plays like a "modern" 'Nique, the next day he doesn't. There is no reference to Mormons whatsoever.

I don't really think that he meant it to be directed at religion at all. Now, if he would have said that he was like a Mormon 'Nique that would not only be different, but it would also not make sense.

I don't know about that, but 311 has a song where they reference a latter-day saint bernard (it's on grass roots) it makes me smile every time.

I tend to agree with your sentiments here but seriously, who outside the Church uses the term "latter-day" to mean modern?

So we have the "latter-day Celtics" now? The "latter-day Lakers"? As I said, I tend to agree but it does seem a weird way of phrasing Nique of '08.

Go Cougs!!!
