I'm not going to spend a lot of time kicking a dog when it's down, but...

* The Lakers take a 2-0 lead, beating the Jazz 120-110.

* Only 6% of teams come back from losing the first two games.

* Jackson is 39-0 after winning game 1 of a playoff series.

* The Lakers are on a 6-0 streak; The Jazz are on a 2-4 streak.

* Utah has the WORST post-season home record of the remaining playoff teams (1-2) AND L.A. has already won in Salt Lake City this year.

Again, I'm not a Lakers fan by any means, but I do see them as a tool in the hands of the NBA to destroy the Jazz. And my in-laws are from there and remain big fans, so good for them at least.

A parting note from L.A. (gotta keep a sense of humor about things):

For claiming not to be a Laker fan, you sure sound like one...

It's kind of hard to win a game, when the FTA disparity is 89-35 through 2 games. Hopefully, the officiating can be a little more "consistent" when the series shifts to Salt Lake.

Some moron who hasn't watched the games will say, "of course the Jazz aren't getting fouled, they were just taking jump shots during the first two games." A case could be made that was true in the 2nd quarter of game 1, but other than that they'd be wrong. The Jazz scored more points in the paint, have more than 30 more offensive rebounds than the Lakers, and have a ton more shots. The Jazz are being aggressive.

I'm not complaining about any of the foul calls last night against the Jazz, because they do suck at moving their feet to get in front of anybody, but the Jazz aren't getting the same calls on the other end. With as much banging defensively as the Lakers guards do on the perimeter, there is no way that they should have a foul to give with less than 10 seconds in any quarter.

Oh, and is anyone else sick of Doug Collins and the Lakers are so much quicker than the Jazz comments. Basically that is code for the Jazz have too many white guys. Williams, Kirelinko, and Brewer are as quick as almost anyone at their positions, Boozer is average. Okur is a little slow, but not markedly slower than Gasol.

It's easy to hate on the Jazz. They don't play defense, so they make up for it by rough-housing or "playing physical", which is why THEY LEAD THE LEAGUE IN FOULS. And they play weak inside on offense, with AK playing soft and Boozer disappearing in the post-season, so they aren't creating fouls on the other team. Then the fans whine about officiating in two losses where their team was clearly the worse one on the court.

Like I said, that VICTIM mentality makes it easy to hate. So I do, and I am, and I'm certainly not apologizing for my joy at seeing all the ridiculously unrealistic dreams being dashed. Last year was a major fluke for the Jazz, just like how they began this season, and it's about time the Utah fanbase realizes that they'll always be second-rate.

P.S. If I was a Lakers fan, I would be telling you how great Kobe is. And that's never going to happen. I consider him to be no different than Ron Artest on my Sacramento Kings- a punk. But then again, sometimes the wicked are used to destroy an even worse group.

1) That's interesting, because the JAZZ have pretty decent numbers in Opponents Pts Allowed Per Game, Steals Per Game, etc. Media/fans comment on the physicalness of the JAZZ in relation to their defense - you have to EARN your points - as opposed to allowing the a guy to waltz in the lane for a layup (like Denver and Golden State do).

2) The Jazz are 5th in the league in scoring, 2nd in FG%, and 2nd in Assists per game. What's wrong with that offense?

3) Here you've crossed the line, Mars. To say that we Jazz fans are second-rate is just flat out name-calling. Real mature. You do realize that there are probably more Jazz fans on this board, than for any other professional sport.

The Jazz are one of the FEW teams that make it consistently into the playoffs year after year. Jazz fans are loyal and avid about their only professional sport in the market. I'm not sure why you have a vendetta against either; I'd suggest you take your anti-Jazz stance somewhere else...

One of the things I have enjoyed about this board is that many opinions are based on fact and stats. They use evidence to back up their theories. Yes emotions definitely play a role, but only as passion, not as arrogance. Somehow Mars you missed on this one. I like good comparisons...good rivalries. But come on man. do we need this?

Good opposing opinions are welcome. Based on what is actually happening on the court.

1- The Jazz finished 13th this season in points allowed per game, behind Detroit, Boston, San Antonio, New Orleans, Cleveland, and Orlando. The Jazz finished in the bottom have of the league in field goal percentage allowed (17th of 30), worse than all 7 remaining Playoff teams. They also have the worst 3-point defense of the remaining 8. And they were 22nd in the NBA for creating turnovers, and 22nd for blocked shots.

2- The Lakers offense averages 2.4 more points per game than Utah's. Plus Utah's offense has been much worse in the post-season than it was in the regular season. The Jazz are playing scared.

3- Don't be stupid. I said the Jazz were second-rate, and that their fanbase can't accept that (you're a prime example). Don't go making up insults that aren't there, even if "the majority of the board" roots for your NBA team. The Jazz are consistently a mediocre team like you said; Thanks for proving my point. If you don't like the truth, take it to CougarBoard.

I gave you the facts and the stats, and yet all you gave back is this tearful thin-skinned tantrum. Just because your team is losing doesn't mean you should pull this act. Look in the mirror and you'll see who your finger is really pointing at.

It's not just an Anti-jazz thing. Outside of BYU, he has this bitter hatred of all things in the state of Utah.
