The most interesting line to me:

"Cummard, who isn't particularly athletic, won't be a lottery pick and he may not get taken in the first round. But his stock is unlikely to ever be higher. Plus, his 6-7 frame and an ability to play multiple positions give him an edge over many other early entrants."

I'm not quite sure how high his stock could go if he stayed another year. I see him getting a lot of looks with his "co-MVP" distinction as a junior. I haven't given it much thought, but does he have much of a shot at the NBA? This guy seems to think so.

I'm surprised they ranked him so high. I think Cummard has a better hope at the next level than Trent. Cummard is quite athletic and I'm sure he'll surprise the scouts if he goes to any camps. He'll need to bulk up...a lot.

I can't help but chuckle a bit at the thought that Cummard might get drafted and Trent won't. I think odds are both will be back, but if either one of them gets drafted it will be Cummard. Trent didn't win any awards this year and except for the Louisville and UNC games he didn't really step it up in crunch time. Scouts just don't look at a player's stats, they also look at a player's mentality. They want someone who is fearless, competitive and calls for the ball in crunch time. Lee is all of those things and Trent is none of those things.

I hope he is back next year for the sake of the team. He was the integral part of the team that really put BYU at the top of MWC. A little more help from Trent (how are those FT coming Trent-keep practising!) and I think they could have been a top-20 team.

I didn't like the article. First, what does athletic mean? They can jump high? Run fast? Lift a lot of weights? Look good in a leisure suit? What? To say he is not particularly athletic seems to be a pretty sad statement about the co-player of the year from a major conference. C'mon Lee jump higher next time! Let's see if you can dunk! Maybe only the particularly athletic players are the ones that get invited to the dunk contest!

Next, to say his stock is "unlikely to ever be higher" is completely ignorant. If he (and Trent) return and lead the team into the sweet 16 with outstanding play I can guarantee that his "stock" will go way up. The ironic this is that the author even made mention of this in the Chalmers writeup. "Few players, if any, boosted their stock more in the postseason than Chalmers, the 6-foot-1 guard who hit a 3-pointer to force overtime in the title game. He scored in double figures in every NCAA Tournament game..." Can you say "con-tri-dic-tion". Maybe he just expects BYU to be so bad next year even with Lee that they won't make the tournament.

My educated guess is that this is all regurdgatation from other "experts" that have not seen much of Cummard. Kind of like the "weak arm" syndrome that John Beck suffered from.

No way Lee gets drafted this year. He is a great college player but you can't be that skinny at the next level and rely just on skill. He will come back and with Trent gone he will lead the team in scoring and possibly be MVP again. BYU will have to win the MWC and without Trent that will be harder but still possible. Even then I still don't think he will go, there are way too many players out there that can play the same position as him and are more athletic and just as skilled. He will may plenty of money in Europe which is still very respectful.

Yes, "if Lee and Trent return and lead the team into the sweet 16 with outstanding play", his stock will go up. However, that has not happened yet, and it is "unlikely" to happen, especially considering the cougars recent tournament history (that does not mean that it can't happen or wont happen, it just means that it is more likely for BYU to not make it deep in the tournament than it is for them to make it).

This guy is ranking Lee as a potential 2nd rounder in the draft (which is pretty high in my opinion), so I would have to agree that it is unlikely that Lee Cummard would go any higher than that if he returns to play in his senior year. If the "unlikely" happens (which it very well could), then yes his stock will go up.

Karma to Seldawg for the heads up.
