The "blame the victim" mentality of a few of these posts is disturbing. I don't care if she sequestered herself in his bedroom and was naked and shimmying on his bed, it's clearly wrong. Why is that controversial? Do you think a 13-year-old is really capable of understanding the full implications of impregnation? Certainly not to the level that a 20-year-old should. Maybe Malone didn't know her age, but is it too much to think a fella ought to do a little background check before engaging with a sexual partner?
But it's not Malone's past indiscretions that really bother me; I'm most put off by his refusal now to have anything to do with Bell. Sorry, there doesn't seem to be much "repentance" going on there. Something more may be going on with the family relation--we do just have a piece of one side of the story, but this continued refusal to man up is weak. I wonder if he really is concerned that a rape charge could be brought against him.
Anyone able to figure out how old Cheryl and Daryl's mom was when they were conceived? I wonder if that might be where the difference is.
Still, blaming the victim, or insinuating blame for the victim, is disgusting.
